CONNECTING ZAGREB

Dear Subscriber

Welcome to the first Adriatic Property Services Zagreb newsletter of 2007.   Every two weeks we intend to bring you a news round up of news, details on new rental properties, local events, reviews on bars and resturants and of course details on some of the hotest property currently available in Croatia.  We currently have over 700 properties on our website and over 50 properties available for rent in Zagreb alone.  We also have a small, but excellent range of apartments available for short term rent in Zagreb with prices starting from as little as 50 Euros per day.

We are here to connect people and offer expats and Croatians alike the opportunity to publish reviews, recommendations and advice to others.  If you wish to contribute, email (editor@apscroatia.com) with details.  We hope you find the newsletter enjoyable and informative, any comments or suggestions please drop an email to the above address.

Out & About in Zagreb

Eating Out -

Zagreb has a fair amount of choice when it comes to eating out.  Here are some of our favorites.  If you have stumbled upon any culinary gems, don't be selfish and send us the details.  We will review it (ahh, its a hard job, but some one has to do it!) or publish your review.

The Trattoria Agava - located in Tkalciceva Ulica, this restuarant really does stand out.  Good service, consistently good food and value for money.  The owners work in the restuarant and the Head Chef is very demanding prefering to be front of house to ensure your taken care of.  Terrence Howard frequented this place while filming Spring Break in Bosnia.  The focaccia bread with rosemary is to die for!  I recommend the French soup and Tuna salad.

Great places to meet

Zagreb is full of bars and we all have our own favourites.  Here are some you may not have heard about and they are well worth a visit.

Eli's Cafe

Are you a coffee addict?  If so this is the place for you.  The owner is a coffee conosier and to prove is dedication to Kava, he is heading of to Tokyo to represent Croatia in the Kava Championships.  If you are a smoker, then this is NOT for you as the owner runs a stict non smoking policy.  With a vast menuof different flavours, strengths and sizes, you will never get bored of coffee.  The service is great and they offer a take-away which is far better than any Starbucks I have ever been too.  If you love coffee, then its well worth a visit.

Sedmica

Tucked away in the entrance of number 7 (hence the name "Sedmica") Kaciceva, this place is where the arty crowd go.  Designers, artists, actors, photographers and recently a number of expats have taken up residence.  Service is sometimes a little slow, but this is because the place is always packed.  If you fancy a lively Sunday night the this place is great.  Great music, great crowd.

Get out of Zagreb

This time of year is perfect to visit one of over 200 restaurants and pubs in the town of Samobor.

The Old Pharmacy Pub on Herbranagova now has Sky Sports.  Highlights this month include:

  • Live European Rugby
  • International Cricket
  • A1 Grand Prix motor racing
  • and not forgetting all the Premiership football matches!

Make an evening of it and watch all your favourite sports live and in English!

This picturesque medieval town is only 20km from Zagreb, but feels like an entirely different world. The cobbled streets, church’s, climbing and hiking, protected parks, hunting and fishing all make Samobor the perfect weekend getaway. And do not forget the famous Samobor dessert known as "kremsnita", truly a treat.
