 CONNECTING ZAGREB

Dear Subscriber

Time sure does fly when your having fun and there has certainly been enough to going on in Zagreb and the surrounding areas to keep me busy for the last few weeks, but this spell of hot weather is sure making it difficult to keep on working and I look forward to the weekends and a chance to escape to the coast for a few days.  For those of you that are unable to make it to the coast, remember to visit Jarun where you will be able to cool off in the lake or relax in one of the numerous bars and restaurants.  The Lido restaurant is well worth a visit for any one who's not been there before, great food and good service.  For those of you with children, Zagreb Zoo and Maksimir Park is a great place to visit and relax with plenty to keep them entertained.

Looking ahead there is plenty of other things going on throughout the country.  The Split festival is now in full swing providing some great entertainment for all, unfortunately though Zagreb is becoming a bit of a ghost town so if anyone has any events coming up be it social or business and you want to reach a wider audience then let us know and we would be happy to publish the details for you.  If nothing else please make sure you send me an invite!

Yours sincerely

Hot, Dry Weather Until the End of October?

Great news for sun worshipers, not so good for those of us who have to work!  Daily temperatures in July have been the highest since measurements first started being taken in Croatia. According to the forecasts of British weather forecasters, the weather is expected to stay hot and dry until the end of October! Zoran Vakula of the Hydro-Meteorological Institute of Zagreb agrees.

Ryanair finally add Croatia as a destination.

Ryanair have announced a number of new flights recently including a new London Stanstead to Pula service commencing on the 31st October 2006.  Flights are scheduled for every Tuesday, Thursday and Satuarday and are currently advertised from as little as £2.99 / 4.20 Euros / 31Knm excluding airport taxes, fees and charges.

Items for Sale

There is a growing number of expats throughout Croatia and while some have made this wonderful country their home, for others it is a place of work, a stop over for a few years before moving on.  As with any of us relocating, it is not always possible for us to take all our possessions and they have to be sold.  If you are one of the unfortunate ones that has to leave Croatia in the near future and you have items that you wish to dispose of then drop us an email with the details and we will advertise them here.

Places to Visit

If your looking for a really great day out with loads to see, stunning scenery, plently of walks to chose from and a place to escape city life then Plitvice Lakes is for you.

I was down there a few weeks ago with the family and it really is breathtaking.  The kids loved it and even forgot to complain as they were entralled in the whole experience.  Escape Zagreb for a day and see why Plitvice is a UNESCO protected area.
